[W4A] Revolution’s Sanctuary, Reader-Driven Fantasy Adventure

Revolution’s Sanctuary is a fantasy comic with a reader-driven comic, where the input of the audience has direct impact on the decisions of the main character and the course of the overall story. The project is an attempt to explore the possibilities opened up by incorporating reader interaction into a narrative. Revolution’s Sanctuary also seeks to explore and at times deconstruct common ideas, archetypes, and story conventions generally associated with a typical high-fantasy adventure in a setting that’s progressed past the medieval stasis many fantasy worlds find themselves in, having entered an age dominated by Victorian-age technology and ideals in the aftermath of an Industrial Revolution. While an ancient evil has awoken, as ancient evils are wont to do, its found itself scrambling to prepare its forces against a world that now outclasses it since the world outside’s been busy advancing their weapons and tactics during the evil’s rest. Political factions clamor to use the impending assault from the outmatched dark forces as an excuse to resolve petty border disputes. All the while, an adventurer sets out into a world where adventurers are on the decline, still determined to make a name for himself as all eyes turn to the Sanctuary, a strip of land between the borders of two great nations where the old ways of swords and sorcery still desperately cling on. I’m looking for an artist interested in an ongoing project with a simple but expressive art style. To any artists interested, please contact me at flack_w@yahoo.com .

[w4a] Cheat Codes for the Real World

A divorced single mom discovers the cheat code for infinite money in the real world.  Instead of using it to rule the world, she uses the code to save it.

The story will take place in the real world, with some small sci-fi/fantasy elements.  All art styles are welcome, but I’m looking for an artist who can draw a variety of body types, ages and ethnicities, as well as real architecture, fashion and technology.

Contact me at cmwich@gmail.com if interested.

[W4A] Intergalactic zombie apocalypse

Tagline:

Two female super soldiers who are genetically bio-engineered alien-monster-humanoid hybrids must protect what’s left of the living from the zombie apocalypse that’s ravaging the Adayo galaxy by the harbinger of death known only as Necrocalia.

I imagine this as a horror sci-fi story. The two heroines are women of color and I got inspired by a combination of things-anime & manga (Parasyte, Cowboy Bebop, Armitage, Trigun, Gundam Wing) music (rock especially), zombies, aliens, and more.

[W4A] Ongoing Superhero Comedy Webcomic

We’re looking for an artist who’d be interested in a long term, ongoing webcomic, and is familiar with typical and/or old-fashioned superhero art style.  The series is a superhero comedy that follows a young woman living in an very idealized, old-fashioned comic book-y superhero world, and accidentally gets thrown in the middle of their struggle between good and evil—but as she gets in deeper, she realizes how ridiculously fabricated all of their lives are.  Much of it is a fun deconstruction of the superhero genre, as if Watchmen were a fun comedy—the Community of superhero comics, if you will.  We have some ongoing story arcs and do have some ideas for it to go darker and more epic places later, but it’s always going to be a fairly wacky and high-concept comedy for the most part, akin to Adventure Time.

We have the “pilot” script for the first issue finished and ready to go (though of course we are willing to make tweaks after discussion with the artist.)  If you’d like to read a copy of the script and have further discussion on what we’re looking for, contact Derek at derekbgayle@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you with more information!

[W4A] Big Foot = CIA operative.

What if the reason no one has ever seen Big Foot is because he’s an assassin for the CIA? He killed Lincoln, JFK, etc., and the CIA protect him and keep him a secret. The story would focus on Big Foot and 2 undercover CIA agents going from place to place working on assignments for the agency.

This is just a basic idea I had the other day and I haven’t written anything for it quite yet, but if it’s something anyone is interested in then let’s get started. It wouldn’t be all drama or all comedy, but a mixture of both (with suspense thrown it).

Comment or message me if you’re interested.

[W4A] Queens of the Damned

Concept: Three New Orleans drag queens fight werewolves, zombies, vampires, and other forces of darkness in an effort to stop an impending apocalypse. It’s a gender-bending, genre-mixing dark-adventure-comedy all wrapped into one little web comic.

I’m looking for an artist/co-creator for this project. Open to any style of art.

E-mail me if your interested. Jacksonvillewriter@gmail.com.

[W4A] Deadlong, a fantasy-comedy webcomic-y epic-y thing

Colin is a farmhand, an unmemorable nobody in his small village. He’s also dead, but that’s the least of his problems. Having died with no deeds to his name and no one to miss him, he is condemned to spend eternity in Limbo; a broken version of the real world constructed from the memories of the living.

Naturally, Colin isn’t very happy about this, and rather than accept his lot he chooses instead to journey to Mount Palaverus to confront the Gods themselves. He is reluctantly accompanied by Pooka, a crotchetty demon who wants nothing more than to get Colin to sign the Limbo EULA and finish his shift.

The hope is to have a twice- or thrice-weekly webcomic, told in 3-to-5 panel strips, most likely in black and white. Ideally to feature an art style that walks the line between comic-strip cartoony and fantasy, but will consider more or less any approach if it works visually. Not aiming for anything “realistic” in terms of art style.

I can be reached via email, Twitter, or Tumblr. For other examples of my writnig check out Jump Leads and Boomer’s Day Off. Thanks for your time and consideration! :)

[SUCCESS!] Longform, Modern Coming-of-Age Story

Our friend Jon found out that lowarthighcraft found an artist to work with on MYOT for an ‘of age’ story:

This is happening. It’s happening because I wanted to make a comic, and I found someone else who wanted to make a comic, and now we’re making it.

Fellas. Dames. If you’re tired of the status quo in today’s comics market. If you think you’re not being represented. If you see cavernous holes where you think your favorite types of stories should be. If you wonder to yourself, “Man, why don’t they ever have this kind of character in the comics I read?”

I got four words for you:

MAKE YOUR OWN, THEN.

[W4A] Halt Citizen!

Halt, Citizen! is an original idea that I first wrote as a web series. It’s a comedy based concept that I’m trying to turn into a comic. The story is as follows:

Charlie (early 30’s) finds out that his father, well known author Alfred Moon, was the costumed hero The Scribe. Alfred decides to retire from helping the community and passes the mantle of The Scribe to Charlie. Charlie, in costume, holds an “Open House” to find other costumes in the community that will help him with keeping the neighborhood safe. Once the group of oddball/eccentric characters are decided upon, they set off to make the community a little safer; however, their biggest obstacle is often themselves.

I write snappy dialogue, so an artist can definitely stretch 2 pages into 4, easily. I have specific looks/ideas in mind, but I’m very open to how the artist sees things.

Imagine the cast of The Office or It’s Always Sunny dressing up and trying to help other. Doesn’t. End. Well!

If anyone is interested, comment or should me a message on here and I will get in touch with you as soon as I can. I’m also in the process of developing another original idea, so I’m serious about getting this started!
